The International Mathematical Union (IMU) recently announced the list of speakers for the 2026 International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM 2026), and Professor Song Xi Chen from Tsinghua University has been invited to deliver a 45 minute Section Lecture. The International Congress of Mathematicians is the most prestigious event in the field of mathematics, held every four years. An invitation to present a 45 minute Section Lecture signifies that the scholar's outstanding contributions in their field of research have earned high recognition from the international mathematics community.

Professor Song Xi Chen has long been dedicated to research in statistics and data science. His work focuses on statistical inference for ultra-high-dimensional data, high-resolution data assimilation, mathematical geophysics, statistical methods for climate change, applications in Air Quality Assessment in China, econometrics, and demography. His groundbreaking contributions have earned him a distinguished reputation in the global mathematics community.

ICM 2026 will take place in July 2026 in Philadelphia, USA, gathering leading mathematicians from around the world to share cutting-edge advancements in the field.
